The Blog is Back!

Spring 2011 is well underway and already it’s been a busy year for Dumbshow. Our productivity levels have been soaring and so to celebrate, we’ve resurrected the blog! Indeed, the creative juices have been flowing and we have two brand new shows in the making…

Roar is a lusty tale of 17th century London – a city bathed in gin and chaos. A young woman is stolen from the arms of her husband John on their wedding night and spirited away by the riotous Moll Cutpurse. Moll and John share a history and now, she’s out for blood. A story of love and revenge, rampant Judges and raucous women, Roar is a feast for the mind and the senses.

Oedipus is a fast-paced hour-long adaptation of the Greek myth. Charting the journey from Oedipus’ birth to his eventual banishment, a cast of four use dance, puppetry, live music and playful storytelling to add light and soul to an ancient tragedy.

The first drafts of both scripts are in rehearsal and by June we will be putting the finishing touches to them. Plus, we’ve been selected as a company in residence for the International Youth Arts Festival in July, and as part of this will be previewing Roar at the Rose Theatre in Kingston. Oedipus, and its accompanying workshops, will be touring to schools and sixth forms before both shows premiere at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Roar and Oedipus will be accompanied by our existing show Clockheart Boy, wound up for its second Edinburgh run before hopefully touring across the country!

It’s all a bit exciting…
